Transport Arrangements 2020
There are a variety of transport arrangements used by students to get to Mounts Bay Academy, either by their own arrangements or organised transport.

You are advised to plan ahead. Check where the bus stops are and the pickup and drop off times? Walk, ride or drive the route in advance to check how long the journey takes?

Travel during the Coronavirus outbreak
You should not travel at all if you:

are experiencing any coronavirus symptoms

are self-isolating as a result of coronavirus symptoms or sharing a household or support bubble with somebody with symptoms

are clinically extremely vulnerable and cannot shield during your journey

have been advised by the NHS test and trace service that you should self-isolate
Walking and cycling
This will reduce pressure on public transport and road networks.

Where possible, keep 2 meters distance from others.

Cyclists are advised wear a helmet and high-vis vest
Private Cars

Plan your route. These may be different as local areas make changes for social distancing.

People from the same household or support bubble may travel in the same vehicle.

Expect more pedestrians and cyclists.

Maintain a social distance from cyclists when stopped at junctions or traffic lights.
Public Transport

Consider all forms of transport before using public transport

You must wear face coverings on public transport

Check before your journey with the transport operator for the latest travel advice or route/time changes.

Walk for more of your journey

Maintain a social distancing, avoid physical contact and try to face away from other people while on public transport.

County School Transport

This service is open to students who are entitles to free count transport.

The council will normally contact you, but if you think you may be eligible and have not heard from they have requested that you contact them direct.

Mounts Bay Academy Shuttle Service
Mounts Bay Academy offer our own bus shuttle service to students that are not eligible to use free County transport and live beyond three miles from the Academy.
The shuttle service arrangements have been revised to ensure that the latest Government guidance in response to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis is implemented to provide safe transport for students.
Coronavirus Risk Management
Mounts Bay Academy want to reassure all pupils and Parents of pupils travelling on school transport in September that all measures have been put in place to reduce any risk of Coronavirus transmission.
To ensure the safety of passengers we have implemented a number of mandatory rules for students traveling on the buses. These are in addition to the expected normal behaviour code of conduct.
All vehicles will be cleaned to a high standard using disinfectant and effective products in protecting against the Coronavirus and ventilated when carrying passengers.
Pupils:
MUST wear a face covering when on the bus (students will NOT be allowed on the bus without facecovering.
MUST NOT open/close the bus door (Doors will be operated by the driver only)
MUST wait to be told by the driver to board the bus and MUST remain seated until the diver invites you to leave the bus.
MUST NOT eat, drink, use phones/iPads or touch other passenger while on the bus
Driver will give each child hand sanitiser before boarding the bus
No one will be allowed to travel on the bus if:
They have Coronavirus symptoms
They have been ask to isolate as part of the NHS ‘Track and Trace’
They are not wearing a face covering
